Edwin Basson, director general of Worldsteel, praised the sustainable development of China’s steel industry again when had a visit to Shougang Group on Feb 27.

Edwin Bassoon introduced the research and progress of decarbonization technology in the steel industry by Worldsteel, as well as the key work in the next period. He congratulated Shougang Industrial Park on achieving such an imaginative and astonishing transformation. He said that as a steel practitioner, he was proud to see the Shougang Industrial Park transform from an old industrial area into a modern one, where not only steel elements exist, but also new industrial elements continue to emerge. It presents a very good example for sustainable development. He was looking forward to discussing the topic of decarbonization in a particularly meaningful place like Shougang Park.

The 2024 Worldsteel Environmental Committee (ECO) meeting was held in Shougang from Feb 27th to 29^th ，to discuss international standards and environmental policy development in the steel industry.
